During the month of June 2017, eleven law enforcement officers gave their lives in the line of duty in the United States. Of those line of duty deaths, four were the result of felonious gunfire, three were auto-related (two crashes and one officer struck by vehicle), two were boating accidents, and two were the result of a heart attack. One officer was female and the other ten were male.
As of the end of June 2017, 66 law enforcement officers have died in the line of duty in the United States, up 18% over this time last year.
