End of Watch Report June 2018
In June 2018, eight law enforcement officers died in the line of duty, tying January with the fewest line of duty deaths this year, and only the second month in 2018 with fewer than thirteen line of duty deaths.
Of the eight officers who gave their lives in June, five died in auto-related incidents (two automobile crashes, one vehicle pursuit, one vehicular assault, and one struck by vehicle). Two officers died as the result of gunfire in a single incident. One officer died as the result of a 9/11-related illness.
The total number of line of duty deaths in 2018 stands at 75 at the end of June - halfway through the year. This represents a less than 3% increase over this time last year.
The Officer Down Memorial Page offers our sincere condolences to the families, friends, and agencies who lost a loved one to a line of duty death in June 2018. Please read their memorials and Remember the Fallen:
