ODMP's End of Watch Report April 2019

April 2019 Line of Duty Death Report showing 7 LODDs in April for a total of 36 YTD, a 35% decrease from 2018


In April of 2019, seven law enforcement officers died in the line of duty in the U.S., making April the least deadly month of the year so far. The total number of LODDs in 2019 at the end of April was 36, representing a 35% decrease from the same time last year.

Of the seven officers who gave their lives in the line of duty last month, two were the result of gunfire, one was struck by a vehicle, one was the result of a heart attack, one was accidental, one officer drowned, and one officer died as the result of a duty-related illness.
