End of Watch Report August 2020

Across the United States, a total of 22 law enforcement officers died in the line of duty in August 2020. Of those line of duty deaths, sixteen were the result of COVID-19, two were the result of gunfire, two were auto-related (one vehicular assault and one auto crash), one was the result of a heart attack, and one was the result of drowning.

The total number of line of duty deaths in 2020 stands at 180 at the end of August, and 100 of those deaths were from COVID-19.
