The Officer Down Memorial Page: End of Watch Report July 2016

http://www.odmp.org/search/year/2016

The month of July 2016 was one of the deadliest months for law enforcement in the last five years, with nineteen total line of duty deaths.  The last single month with more LODDs was March 2011, which saw the End of Watch for 26 law enforcement officers.  It is worth noting, too, that 2011 was the deadliest year for law enforcement in the last decade, with a total of 180 line of duty deaths.

Of the nineteen line of duty deaths in July 2016, twelve of those were the result of felonious gunfire.  Four of the remaining seven line of duty deaths in July 2016 were auto-related: two were the result of vehicular assault, one was a vehicle pursuit, and one an auto accident.  July also saw two line of duty deaths due to assault and one due to drowning.

The Officer Down Memorial Page extends our deepest condolences to the families, friends, and agencies who lost loved ones in July 2016 and holds them in our thoughts.

Please take a moment to read the memorials of those who gave their lives in the line of duty and Remember the Fallen.
